The quick preset buttons set the start date to today and add 30, 60, 90, 120, or 180 days. This is useful for common deadlines and return windows. The calculator works for past dates too — just switch to Subtract and enter any number of days.
How the Math Works
The calculator starts with the date you enter and moves forward or backward one calendar day at a time using JavaScript's built-in date arithmetic. This automatically handles months of different lengths and leap years. A year is a leap year if it is divisible by 4, except for years divisible by 100, which must also be divisible by 400.
For example, 60 days from March 1, 2024, lands on April 30, 2024, because 2024 is a leap year and February has 29 days. The same calculation from March 1, 2025, would land on April 30, 2025, because 2025 is not a leap year.
Common Uses
- Return and refund windows. Many stores offer 30, 60, or 90 day return windows. Enter the purchase date and add the window length to find the last day to return an item.
- Trial periods. Software trials, gym trials, and free subscriptions often last 7, 14, or 30 days. Calculate the exact expiration date.
- Project deadlines. A task due in 45 days from a kickoff meeting can be pinned to an exact calendar date for scheduling.
- Payroll and accounting. Net-30, net-60, and net-90 invoice terms define payment due dates by adding days to the invoice date.
- Travel planning. Visa-free entry windows, ESTA validity, and rental car minimum ages are often measured in days from a start date.
- Legal deadlines. Court filing windows, notice periods, and statutes of limitation are commonly expressed as a number of days from an event.
- Health and fitness. Medication courses, physical therapy plans, and habit challenges often run 30, 60, or 90 days.
Difference From Days Between
The Days Between Dates calculator asks for two dates and tells you how many days separate them. The Date Plus or Minus calculator asks for one date and a number of days and tells you the second date. Use this page when you know the span and need the landing date.
